Organic Food at Our Ladakh Farmstay: Farm-to-Table Dining in the Himalayas

Food is one of the things our guests remember most about their stay at Nature Palace Farmstay. We believe that eating well is as important as sleeping well — and in Ladakh, where the growing season is short and precious, every vegetable, herb and grain has a story.
Our organic farm
The farmstay sits on active agricultural land that has been farmed organically for generations. We grow a seasonal mix of vegetables including peas, spinach, turnips, radishes, potatoes and various Ladakhi greens. In summer the herb garden produces fresh mint, coriander and wild mountain herbs. Everything is grown without chemical pesticides or synthetic fertilisers — the Himalayan soil and glacier-fed river water do the work.
Authentic Ladakhi dishes you will try
Thukpa — a hearty Tibetan-style noodle soup with vegetables, the ultimate comfort food at altitude
Skyu — a thick stew with hand-rolled pasta dough pieces and root vegetables, a Ladakhi winter staple
Momos — traditional steamed dumplings filled with vegetables or meat, served with spicy chutney
Butter tea (Gur Gur Cha) — a salty tea made with yak butter, a traditional Ladakhi drink that helps with acclimatisation
Tsampa — roasted barley flour, the staple grain of Ladakh, served as porridge or mixed into tea
We cater to all dietary preferences
Our kitchen is fully flexible. We cook vegetarian, vegan and non-vegetarian meals with equal care. If you have dietary restrictions, allergies or preferences, just let us know when you book and we will make sure every meal works for you. We also serve standard Indian dishes for guests who prefer familiar food.
Bonfire dinners under the stars
On clear evenings we offer open-air bonfire dinners on our farmstay grounds. Sitting around a fire with a bowl of warm Thukpa, looking up at the Milky Way, with the sound of the Indus River in the background — this is the kind of meal you will tell people about for years. It is one of the signature experiences of staying with us.
